Maintenance of our common grounds is coordinated by our CCIA Maintenance Director. Should you see something that is in need of repair such as the neighborhood brick fences, stone monuments, common grounds sprinkers, etc. please contact our CCIA Maintenance Director.
For the following items that are in need of repair, please contact the applicable office:
- Street pole lighting outage: contact CenterPoint Energy. Give them the pole number which is located vertically on the pole
- Street curb repair: contact Harris County Community Assistance
- Street signs/stop signs need to be cleaned or replaced: contact Harris County Community Assistance
Mosquito fogging occurs twice a week from April to the end of October through our contracted vendor, Cypress Creek Pest Control. For questions, contact our Maintenance Director.
Champions Community Directory
The Champions Community Directory is issued annually by Champions Printing and mailed to the residents. All neighborhood information, resident listings, and other community information is included in the directory. Please consider adding your name, address, phone numbers and email addresses. Inclusion is not automatic. Any updates need to be forwarded to our Directory Coordinator. Champions Community Newsletter
The Champions Community Bulletin is published monthly by Champions Printing and is mailed directly to Champions residents. Submissions of neighborhood news items for publication in our newsletter are welcomed. Please submit items to our Newsletter Editor. Newsletter articles need to be submitted a full month prior to the newsletter issuance, meaning for a May newsletter, submissions are due April 1st. Champions Community Identification Stickers
Champions bumper stickers (the green C) for your car(s) may be obtained by contacting our Membership & Activities Director or your Block Captain. The stickers help the deputies identify who are Champions residents.
The CCIA encourages residents to have their garage sales during the neighborhood garage sales which are held in early April and October. The Membership & Activities Director advertises the sales, puts signs up in the neighborhood and prepares a flyer listing the addresses of those holding garage sales during these events.
If you have a roadside ditch in the front or on the side of your house and you have standing water in it, please call Harris County Precinct 4 to have them dig out your ditch. Standing water is a breeding ground for mosquitoes and bacteria. We all know about the continuing problem we have with mosquitoes and need to help in any way we can to prevent the expansion of the mosquito population. To contact Harris County Precinct 4 to schedule ditch digging by your house, please call 281-353-8424.
Our Block Captains deliver Welcome Packets to each of our new neighbors. This packet contains useful information such as our Deed Restrictions, Bylaws, a current neighborhood directory, a newsletter, two Champions Community Identification Stickers, a directory update form, and a Champions Women's Club pamphlet. If you are new to the neighborhood and would like to receive a welcome packet, please contact our Membership & Activities Director.
Yard of Recognition
The Champions Garden Club sponsors the Yard of Recognition award. Those eligible to receive the awards are residents of Champions Northwest, East, West, North and South. This award is given four times per year – three times for landscaping and the fourth as the Christmas lighting awards. The judging is done by members of the Champions garden club on a volunteer basis.
The landscaping award may be given during any month of the year, as determined by the committee, but usually once during spring, once during summer and once during the fall.
The Christmas lighting awards are judged and awarded on a pre-determined date approximately a week before Christmas. This date is publicized in the CCIA newsletter well in advance. There are a maximum of 7 awards to be given, but not all 7 must be given.
After a yard has been selected for the award, the recipient will be contacted. A sign is then placed in the yard and a photographer will take a picture to appear in the CCIA newsletter, along with the recipient’s name and address. The landscaping award sign stays in the winning yard for 30 days, and the Christmas lighting award signs stay for about 2 weeks.
The guidelines for judging the landscaping are as follows:
- Well-balanced landscaping scheme suitable to the style of architecture.
- Yard mowed, edged, and free from obvious diseases or blight.
- Curbs and gutters cleaned.
- Good imagination and plant placement, whether by owner’s hand or landscaper.
- Pleasing plant balance with variety and color.
- Shrubs nearly trimmed, beds neat and weed-free.
- All yard equipment put away when not in use, including water hose rolled up.
- Yard and landscaping must be six months old before eligible for an award.
- A yard may not win more than once a year.
